About
Guenther's Family Business
In 1965 John and Emma Guenther planted their roots in the small community of Muddy Pond in Tennessee. John and Emma started their family in Muddy Pond. They had seven sons and one daughter.

As the family began to grow so did their knowledge and passion for growing, harvesting and processing sorghum. Three sons have continued their late father, John Guenther's, legacy by taking over and continuing the traditions of Muddy Pond Sorghum Mill. The processing of Muddy Pond's sorghum is still completed at the original mill from the businesses start in the 1970's. As the family business grows the hard work and neighborly ethics instilled by John and Emma remain.

Our Story
Each jar of Guenther’s Sorghum tells the story of family, faith, and hard work. The same hands that plant and harvest are the ones that bottle and taste-test every batch. For over half a century, our family has carried forward the values that began in Muddy Pond — honesty, craftsmanship, and pride in doing things the right way.
From Field to Family

At Guenther’s Sorghum, we make syrup the way it was meant to be made — by family, for family. Harvested by hand, cooked over open heat, and bottled with care, our sorghum syrup carries the warmth of Tennessee tradition and the taste of true craftsmanship.

Pure Tradition
Hands That Built the Tradition
From the first squeeze of the cane to the final pour, every step at Guenther’s Sorghum is done by hand — and with heart. The syrup bubbles to life in open pans, steam rising as natural sweetness thickens into liquid gold. It’s an old-fashioned process, perfected by generations, that turns simple Tennessee-grown sorghum into a flavor that can’t be imitated.

Heritage That Runs Deep
Walk into the Guenther mill on a fall day and you’ll likely find more than just syrup cooking — you’ll find family. Generations work side by side, from grandparents overseeing the boil to grandkids bottling and labeling each jug by hand. Neighbors stop by to share stories, sample the latest batch, and lend a helping hand.
